Job overview

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed Fundraising and Marketing Assistant to join Midhurst Palliative Care, the charity proudly funding the Midhurst Macmillan Service. 

The charity is busy and expanding and needs a fundraising and marketing all-rounder to deliver community events and challenges and produce e-comms, newsletters and web updates to ensure our fundraisers and donors have exceptional support and are regularly updated on the work and impact of the Midhurst Macmillan Service. 

Whilst some relevant experience is essential, the candidate will work closely with the charity's Fundraising Manager and the charity's partners and have the opportunity to develop their skills and experience in an exciting and supportive environment.     

Main duties of the job

·   Supporting the Fundraising Manager in delivering the charity's  fundraising strategy, activity and campaigns with the aim of meeting the annual fundraising target and fulfilling the commitment to part-fund the Midhurst Macmillan Service.

·       Lead on the delivery of Community and Peer-to-peer fundraising, stewarding existing supporters and fundraisers and building relationships with new ones. 

·       Contribute to the management and co-ordination of the charity’s events. 

·      Contribute to the marketing and communications strategy to raise awareness of the Charity and encourage staff and community fundraising.

·     Lead on the delivery of e-comms, including e-newsletters, be responsible for updating the website and work with the social media lead to maintain a coherent comms presence for the charity. 

·      Support the Charity Admin Assistant by contributing to the administering of gifts and timely and appropriate thanking.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Community and Event Fundraising

·       The post-holder will be the first point of contact within the team for fundraising enquiries, managing the charity email in-box and taking telephone enquiries. 

·       Support the Fundraising Manager in meeting or exceeding the annual fundraising target for the Charity.

·       Be responsible for Community and Peer to peer fundraising.  Developing relationships with existing supporters and identifying and encouraging new ones. 

·       Contribute to building and developing fundraising relationships in the community, including local corporates and businesses. 

·       To administer the Charity’s fundraising database, Donorfy, ensuring it is up-to-date at all times, including maintaining a record of our processes to ensure a consistent and accurate use of the system.

 Governance

·       To be aware of and adhere to the Institute of Fundraising Code of Practice.

·       To be aware of and adhere to the Fundraising Regulators Fundraising Code.

·       To comply with all relevant legislation as well as Trust policies and procedures.

·       Demonstrate support for the values and beliefs of Midhurst Palliative Care Charity and Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust

·       Demonstrate an understanding of the practices of Human Rights in the delivery of this role

 Marketing and Communications

·       Be responsible for updating the website.

·       Be responsible for the delivery of all e-comms using MailChimp.

·       Contribute to social media content and contribute to the coherence of the overall communications strategy. 

·       With the support of the Fundraising Manager, build and maintain good relationships with local media contacts and contribute to press releases and content of articles. 

 Networks

·       To work closely with the Charity Admin Assistant

·       To support the Midhurst Macmillan Service social media lead

·       To work closely with and support the charity’s volunteers, particularly in the delivery of community fundraising activities and events. 

Additional Requirements

·       Ensure that fundraising standards of practice are maintained at all times and contribute in a positive manner to the overall development of the Charity.

·       Project a professional image of the Midhurst Macmillan Service at all times abiding by established policies and procedures.

·       The post-holder will be required to travel to other Trust locations and other organisations. 

 ·       The post is one of continual development.  The job description is intended as a guide to the principal duties and responsibilities of the post and complements individual objectives set in line with the department’s business objectives.

  • Ability to use a range of software packages, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
