Our extensive health services are provided by over 7,000 dedicated members of staff working from two acute hospitals in Hastings and Eastbourne, three community hospitals in Bexhill, Rye and Uckfield, over 100 community sites across East Sussex, and in people’s own homes. 


In 2020 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated us as ‘Good’ overall, and ‘Outstanding’ for being Caring and Effective. The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and our Community Services were rated ‘Outstanding’ and Eastbourne DGH was rated ‘Good’ Our two acute hospitals have Emergency Departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services. 


In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

We are growing our dietetics team and looking to recruit newly qualified staff, or those searching for a new role, to join the Dietetics team at East Sussex Healthcare Trust. Our Band 5 Dietitians have the opportunity to work in acute, intermediate care and community settings, benefitting from supporting patients through their journey as an integrated acute and community Trust. 

We are a vibrant and thriving department that continually engages with new research and technology. We utilise globally renowned guest speakers to deliver training and have moved to a paperless patient records system. The use of social media allows us to regularly share and celebrate our teams achievements. In addition to this, the team promotes and values a strong focus on the health and wellbeing of our staff through social events and activities.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

As a band 5 Dietitian within ESHT you will be supported in clinical rotations across the acute and community settings. Duties include providing specialist advice to Stroke, Frailty, Surgery, Gastroenterology and Orthopaedics inpatients in the acute hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient clinics. You will liaise closely with the patient’s relatives and carers regarding ongoing nutritional care and discharge planning.  You will also provide expert nutritional advice and knowledge to the wider MDT. In community settings you will support patients in face to face clinics, via virtual/telephone clinics, as well as in their home and in care-home settings, to manage their oral and enteral nutritional requirements.

Our close knit and supportive team of over 40 clinicians includes; Dietitians, Trainee Advanced Practice Dietitians, First contact Practice, Dietetic Assistants and Dietetic Apprentices. The Dietetics Department support the specialities of paediatrics, oncology, diabetes, community nutrition support, inpatients, acute rehabilitation, general outpatients and gastroenterology.
