In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

Highly Specialised Musculo-Skeletal (MSK) Paediatric Physiotherapist – Band 7  Part time 15 hours– Cross site – Fixed Term Contract Maternity Leave Cover For Six Months ONLY (Until May 2025)

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic Band 7 -  MSK paediatric physiotherapist to work alongside our Advanced Practitioner, an additional Band 7 specialist physio and split post band 6 physio.  This will be a fixed term part time, cross-site role, to cover maternity leave .  

Main duties of the job

As part of Band 7 clinical leadership, this role would support supervision and line management of students to develop skills in paediatric assessment and management within MSK, as well as supporting junior colleagues and peers within the adult MSK teams on site.

You will be working in a supportive team environment, alongside experienced MSK clinicians, including advanced practitioners, the Paediatric MSK Clinical Lead, Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultant and paediatricians within ESHT as required.    This role will also be central to liaison with other providers of paediatric healthcare in East Sussex including external services that provide Neurodevelopmental therapy and complex case management.

This post will give you great opportunity to understand the needs of  MSK paediatric care across East Sussex, with strong links to the cross Trust Clinical Interest Group in the South East, working with the Advanced Practitioner and other clinical leads to develop regional pathways, and identify areas for business development.

Our teams have a strong commitment to supporting personal professional development through an embedded in-service training programme, clinical and leadership supervision, mentoring and appraisal. The successful candidate will be integral to the delivery of this.

The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced communication and organisational skills, alongside sound knowledge and experience in the management of a wide range of MSK paediatric conditions.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Health Professions Council Registration
  • Evidence of relevant specialist paediatric MSK post graduate CPD, being either Masters Level or equivalent. Able to demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in this specialised area of physiotherapy practice
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate / higher level learning  Masters modules,  PG cert’s/ diplomas in clinical physiotherapy/ Working with other healthcare professionals to develop clinical pathways and service, demonstrating clinical leadership skills across professions.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant amount of post-qualification experience with clinical background in neurology, orthopaedics and MSK.
  • Experience in MSK and Paediatric MSK rehabilitation in primary or secondary care
  • Minimum 2 years experience at Band 6 level combining MSK and paediatric specialist physiotherapy.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of presentation delivery of clinical data

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of high level clinical assessment, treatment and clinical reasoning relating to the specialist Paediatric MSK physiotherapy role.
  • Ability to contribute, promote and influence effective team working using a range of communication skills including negotiation and teaching.
  • Good interpersonal skills both written and oral.
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate flexible communication and leadership skills to support team development and training.
  • Motivational interviewing/behaviour change training
