In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

We are looking for experienced HCPC registered ODP’s and NMC Registered staff with Anaesthetic experience to join our team at Conquest Hospital in Hastings. You will need to have at least 2 years’ experience within anaesthetics,  a mentorship qualification, leadership training and the commitment to work within a well established rotational team.

The Theatre complex at Conquest has eight main Theatres which carry out a wide range of surgery including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Breast,  Trauma/CEPOD  and one OBS/GYNAE Theatre. We are looking for experienced, compassionate staff who wish to deliver exceptional standards of care  within theatres. 

In 2024 we will be expanding our use of  theatres at Conquest with the introduction of the new Robot for General Surgery and Gynaecology.

If you are flexible, have excellent interpersonal skills and the desire to work within theatres that is growing and expanding its service delivery to include new innovative ways of working then we want to hear from you! 

Main duties of the job

To support the Department Matrons and Deputy Leads in maintaining an efficient and effective service,  delivering safe patient care within an environment that promotes a responsive approach to changing healthcare needs. 

Predominantly day shifts, but will incorporate out of hours, nights and weekend working and the ability to work cross site as required.

qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
  • Mentorship Preceptorship Course /ENB 998.
  • A1/D32 D33.
  • PACU: Recognised critical care course/module.
  • Evidence of relevant CPD / Revalidation documents.
  • Evidence of additional relevant multi skilled competencies within the Operating Theatres or PACU or DSU
Desirable criteria
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Management/leadership course.

Min Criteria

Essential criteria
  • Two years' experience as a Registered Practitioner within Theatres/ PACU/ DSU demonstrating areas of responsibility and management.
  • Multi skilled competencies within the Operating Theatres or PACU or DSU.
  • Experience in leading a clinical area/operating sessions.
  • Risk assessor training & experience
