Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced health professional: part -time Band 6 post within the  ME/Chronic Fatigue Service within the geographical area of Sussex. The post holder will be offering assessment, diagnosis  and treatment to individuals with ME/chronic fatigue syndrome who may have complex life experiences of trauma, mental health conditions or substance use which may affect the management of their health condition. The post holder will also offer group work and have an interest in exercise and promotion of self management.

This would be an ideal opportunity for a compassionate and non judgmental individual who is interested in developing their skills within the specialist service of  ME/chronic fatigue syndrome. 

 You would be working  alongside experienced ME practitioners  with an MDT approach to caring for these patients.  This is a great opportunity to gain a lot of experience from allied health professional colleagues, psychologist and associate specialist,  in a very supportive virtual environment

Main duties of the job

To manage a caseload of patients with a suspected diagnosis of ME/CFS and offer timely diagnosis and advice through 1:1 assessments

To formulate and deliver an individualised treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment and reasoning skills.

Delivering group self management programme

 To build professional rapport with patients and communicate with them in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture, ensuring that they are involved in and informed at every step of the journey with our specialist service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Equivalent in Occupational Therapy State Registration with HPC
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent governing body
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses / CPD and reflective practice relevant to clinical speciality

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 years Post graduate experience in the fields of rehabilitation, respiratory, musculoskeletal, neurology and chronic conditions
  • Experience of individual and group work interventions
  • Multi-professional team working
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supervising junior staff, assistants and students

Desirable criteria
  • Member of relevant special clinical interest group
  • Experience of working with fatigue and a familiarity of working to a biopsychosocial model.
  • Good communication and ability to use initiative
