Job overview
We are looking for reliable, committed and driven Pharmacy Technicians to join the Homecare team working between HRI and CHH. You should have an NVQ level 3 qualification in pharmacy services and experience within a hospital setting.
You will oversee and contribute to the smooth running of the Pharmacy Homecare Service, including staff management and training. The Homecare Team at HUTH has grown over the past few years, and is likely to continue to do so in the future, as there is an estimated 10% minimal annual growth within the sector. We are looking for someone enthusiastic about the continued development of the Homecare service, who is able to support the team through these changes.
Main duties of the job
You will be oversee the processing , reconciliation and receipting of orders for Homecare drugs. Responsible for handling and responding to queries and complaints, including those escalated by Homecare Senior Assistants. Responsible for monitoring upcoming contract changes and communicating with clinical teams and Homecare Providers to ensure best value is achieved, in accordance with regional frameworks. This will include producing reports and carrying out audits for generic and biosimilar switches. It is a key aspect of this role to be responsible for the day to day operational management of these switches and ensure any issues escalated and dealt with as soon as possible.
You will be expected to maintain and regularly update any Pharmacy Homecare service operating procedures under the direction of the Principal Technician. You will also be expected to undertake the appropriate training and logs to enable you to technically validate homecare prescriptions.
You will maintain skills in the dispensary and will undertake regular dispensary sessions.
The Pharmacy Department offers a range of flexible working arrangements, including the possibility of occasional working from home once trained. To meet the changing needs of the service, the duties and working times attached to this post may be subject to reasonable change in the future. Participation in the late night, weekend and Bank Holiday working arrangements is a requirement of this post.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • NVQ City and Guilds level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent to enable registration with GPhC)
- Accuracy checking qualification
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain as a practicing pharmacy technician
Desirable criteria
- IT pharmacy application system knowledge and experience (preferably Ascribe, Excel, Microsoft Office)
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician in an Acute Hospital sector
- • Ability to Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals and members of the public
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge/understanding of Homecare Medicines service provision
- Experience of carrying out or participating in audits

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
