Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a B7 Advanced Speech and Language Therapy post to develop a service into the East Riding of Yorkshire Youth Justice Service. In this role the successful candidate will deliver Highly Specialist Speech and Language assessment for young people known to the Youth Justice Service (YJS) to inform them, their families/carers and the people around them of any identified communication difficulties. You will then provide appropriate training, therapy, advice and support to the young person and their family/carers, working alongside a range of other professionals. This is a one year fixed term contract in the first instance.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality, comprehensive service in line with the guidance of the Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and HCPC
To be clinically responsible and accountable for the specialist service area within the East Riding YJS
To continue to demonstrate advanced clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice re the service development and the delivery of care in partnership with patients, relatives, staff, commissioners, managers, external agencies across a the agreed service area.
To employ excellent presentation skills to promote multi disciplinary and interagency liaison and collaborative practice to broad range of audiences, including other professionals and service users.
To continuously evaluate the level of clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures
To maintain knowledge of current research and clinical developments.
Provide support to children who may be under stress (and their families, carers) undergoing a diagnostic procedure enabling them to engage with the therapeutic process
Keep accurate and contemporaneous records in case note documentation in line with departmental and professional guidelines.
