Are you looking for a new challenge?  We are looking for a Band 3 Health Care Assistant (HCA) to joined Market Weighton Practice. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a GP Practice. Ideally you will have worked within primary care and are seeking to develop your career further within this field, there may be an opportunity to the right candidate to be supported with a Nurse Associate role or further development opportunities.  If so, we would be excited to meet you.  

Our GP practices are situated within both the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull and have all attained a ‘Good’ CQC rating and an attractive rate Band 3 rate will be offered to the right candidate with experience and skill levels.

This is a patient facing role and you will have your own clinic which will involve, taking bloods, administering injections, performing ECGs, Diabetic Foot Checks and administering flu vaccinations. 

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role will include - 

  • To provide and maintain a high standard of health care assistant support to patients as well as providing  assistance to the clinical and other members of the primary healthcare team
  • Demonstrating the ability to work effectively as part of a team 
    and provide support/guidance to less experienced staff/learners within the clinical environment
  • Working to promote the health and wellbeing of patients within the practice

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Health and safety and infection control awareness
  • Knowledge of primary care software packages - SystmOne, ICE, INR Star
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3
  • Good standard of education within English and Maths
  • Care Certificate or relevant experience
  • Basic phlebotomy qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of administering prescribed medicines safely and appropriately
  • Advanced phlebotomy
  • INRstar
  • ECGs
  • Immunisation

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in community or primary health care
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with patients concerning the phlebotomy procedure, with due respect for patients welfare, dignity and preferences
