Job overview
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated School Nurse with initiative and drive who is keen to contribute to the further development of our service. The successful applicants will work within the West Wolds team of the 0-19 (25) Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Service (ISPHNS). This is an all year round post working 26.5 hours per week.
We will also consider applications from qualified SCPHN Health Visitors who are willing to undertake the school nursing module of the SCPHN course to become dual qualified.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, be very organised and be willing to facilitate and support change in service delivery. You will need to have the ability to work autonomously and as part of an integrated skill mix team.
Applicants are required to be committed to providing the best possible service to children, young people and families. They should demonstrate willingness to develop and maintain integrated services.

Main duties of the job
To undertake the continuing responsibility for the management of the workload of the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Team 5-19 (25) years
- To ensure the effective delivery of care packages to children, young people and their families; and delivering the Healthy Child Programme
- To be responsible for the management of a caseload or client group of children looked after including compilation of reports and participation in multi-agency safeguarding children procedures
- To participate in the supervision, leadership and management responsibilities of the Integrated Public Health Nursing
- To offer specialist advice in line with identified specialist areas (eg Adolescent Mental Health, Sexual Health and Relationships)
- To ensure safe and smooth transition for children from Primary or Junior School into Secondary school or where appropriate into Special School.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current registration on the NMC register
- Professional qualification to Degree level or Diploma level Post Graduate Qualification in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing
- To be on the live register of mentors
Desirable criteria
- Leadership
- Teaching qualification or equivalent presentation skills/training experience
- Hold a recognised non-medical prescribing qualification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation and guidance relevant to clinical area, e.g. Children, Young People and their families
- Full understanding of relevant clinical practice/standards within identified clinical area
- Good IT skills
- Assessment and screening skills
- Immunisation skills
