Join our dynamic Critical Care Science team, where you’ll play a key role in delivering expert scientific and technological support to critically ill patients across our three-site critical care service—including specialist cardiothoracic and burn centres.

Main duties of the job
As a Critical Care Scientist, you’ll be at the heart of our service, taking responsibility for:
✔ Providing specialist scientific expertise to optimise patient care and clinical outcomes.
✔ Managing the day-to-day operations of our critical care science services.
✔ Leading service planning and coordination, ensuring seamless integration across our three sites.
✔ Developing and mentoring staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
✔ Driving innovation, supporting the Scientist Training Programme (STP) and pioneering an apprenticeship pathway for healthcare science associates.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- National School of Health care science (Scientist Training Programme- STP) in Critical Care or academy of health care science equivalence
- MSc or equivalent in relevant science subject at Master level
- Degree or evidence of equivalent study in a relevant physiological science
Desirable criteria
- Leadership qualification
- Teaching qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in a scientific role in a busy Critical Care environment
- Evidenced senior management of staff, developing a service and budget management.
Desirable criteria
- Evidenced leadership, teaching and assessment of critical care scientists

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
