Our newly formed Trust, comprising acute hospital sites at Broomfield in Chelmsford, Basildon and Southend,  is determined to provide the best health services for its local population. We are a well-led, high-performing and innovative organisation working in the best interests of the people we serve.

Job overview

Here at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust we are looking to recruit a Qualified Specialty Neonatal Nurse with experience of working within a neonatal environment. If you are seeking a new and exciting challenge with the opportunity to enhance your leadership, management and professional development?  Why not consider joining our neonatal team at  our Basildon Hospital site and let us help facilitate your professional journey.

We have recently moved to a brand new unit with amazing space and facilities for our babies , their families and the staff.

We are also very proud of the transitional care service that we provide to our families which allows babies to remain with their mothers on the post-natal wards and avoid admission and separation.

For this role you will need to have a current NMC registration and post registration experience.  Have completed the Specialty Neonatal Course or equivalent and had post qualification experience.  Mentorship/teaching qualification is desirable.

Main duties of the job

  • Direct, supervise and monitor the provision of nursing care that meets the needs of  level 1, level 2, and level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Patients in accordance with statutory requirements, Trust and Directorate policies.
  • Participate in the management of the Neonatal Unit in the absence of a Senior Charge Nurse demonstrating sound organisational skills.
  • Assist with budgetary control at ward level.
  • Assist in providing an environment that is conducive to the education of all staff.
  • Provide effective support for senior and junior staff.

Working for our organisation

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.

Basildon Hospital supports the delivery of approximately 4000 births a year.

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust  has 3 Neonatal units , 1 on each site.

We have forged strong professional working partnerships with our colleagues on the other sites and this results in us providing excellent standards of care for our babies and our families .

We not only offer you a good working environment with flexible working opportunities, but also the opportunity to develop your career with access to appropriate training for your job and the support to succeed and progress.
