Senior Therapy Assistant - Band 3 - Full time - Cardiorespiratory

You will be part of our in patient physiotherapy team, supporting the work of the therapists and assisting in the management and co-ordination of patient equipment. This role involves working closely with patients in an inpatient setting (including critical care) under the guidance of a qualified therapist.
Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a therapy service, hospital, or care environment, however no professional qualifications are required and appropriate instruction and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job
There will be administrative tasks and record keeping to be maintained as part of this role.
This role requires good communication and interpersonal skills in addition to basic computer and email skills. You would be required to write directly into the medical notes (paper and/or electronic) and so a good standard of written work is essential. It is a busy but friendly working environment and you will need to be resilient, flexible and organised.
Your work will be directed and supervised by qualified therapists.
You will assist the qualified therapists in delivering an excellent therapy service to patients in both the in and outpatient setting.
You will contribute to the assessment, education and treatment of patients both individually and in groups.
You will undertake general departmental duties such as cleaning, collation of statistical information and ordering equipment.
You will undertake clerical and administrative tasks as necessary to maintain the smooth running of the department.

- To contribute to the assessment, education and treatment of patients both individually and in groups
- To complete delegated Physiotherapy tasks once competencies are complete
- To liaise with the Therapist as necessary regarding patients therapeutic
interventions particularly highlighting any variations to expected
outcomes from the treatment/education programmes. - To be able to progress patient treatment within established protocols
and guidelines - To liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team on behalf of
the Therapist regarding a patient’s therapy. - Under the direction of the Therapists to be responsible for liaising with
patients, relatives, carers, equipment services, social and health care
professionals and other voluntary organisations and statutory bodies. - To demonstrate evidence of sound theoretical knowledge of clinical
and technical procedures with guidance. - To complete records ensuring they are accurate, timely and in
accordance with Trust, Professional and Departmental standards and - To contribute to the induction of newly appointed Therapy Assistants,
qualified Therapists and students - To organise and prioritise own delegated workload, under supervision
of qualified staff, using effective time management skills responding
flexibly to changing priorities. - To work effectively with various members of the therapy team,
demonstrating the ability to work flexibly under the guidance
of a number of different staff or across different teams. - To demonstrate an understanding of and an aptitude towards email,
PAS, word processing and intranet/internet.

Essential criteria
- Evidence of ability to successfully complete a course of study
- To have literacy and numeracy skills to maintain patient records
Experience

- Experience of working with people in a customer care service or similar environment

- Experience of working in a care or rehabiliation environment

- Good written and verbal communication skills
