Job overview

An opportunity has arisen at Broomfield Hospital  for someone to join our friendly team as a Chief Cardiac Physiologist  in our Cardiac Department that undertakes a variety of Cardiac diagnostic tests providing both an inpatient and outpatient service in which you will be based in our PFI wing where we have the latest, most up to date equipment and facilities.

We are looking for a highly specialist Physiologist who is able to undertake Echocardiography, BSE qualification is essential. We are as BSE accredited department, we perform a range of Echocardiography services including Physiology led stress echocardiography and Physiology led valves clinics.

This is fixed term post for 12 months,  full time, 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

Your role will be  to work as part of a multidisciplinary team assisting the Senior Chief and Principal Cardiac Physiologists to ensure the provision of high quality cardiac services and assisting with the day to day supervision of staff and be a specialist in Echocardiography.

You will take responsibility for junior staff in the absence of senior staff, the medical staff training in Echocardiography, provide managerial support to the Principal Cardiac Physiologist and provides clinical expertise in a broad range of investigations/procedures.

You will take an active role in the education, training and development of all junior staff, working closely with the training lead and ensure training continues in absence of the training lead.

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Healthcare Science or equivalent
  • RCCP registration
  • BSE Accreditation
Desirable criteria
  • ALS qualification
  • BSE assessor

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience as a Cardiac Physiologist in all areas of Cardiac Physiology, with further experience as specialist echocardiographer
  • Experience within a band 6 position for at least three years
  • Experience of training staff in echocardiography.
  • Able to perform Cardiology tests unsupervised
