An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join our Haematology department based at our Broomfield Hospital site.This is an ideal role for a candidate with an excellent background in clinical haematology.  You would be responsible for care of in-patients admitted under haematology team .

Here at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust we take an innovative approach which aims to deliver vertically integrated haematology
services from the community, through to secondary and Tertiary care.

Main duties of the job

To assist Consultant staff in the management of adult Haematology patients, both malignant and non-malignant, in the outpatient, day case and inpatient setting.

  • To be available for advice to junior doctors, attending ward/day unit as necessary.
  • To liaise with GPs and provide advice in consultation with Consultant Haematologist.
  • To assist with, attend and contribute to patient management at MDTs.
  • To assist with laboratory queries and report films, bone marrows within your level of competence and training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Attend and assist at Outpatient clinics.

  • In conjunction with other members of the team, to manage haematology inpatients. To attend Consultant ward rounds as required.

  • To undertake bone marrow and other procedures as necessary and assist with reporting of bone marrows and blood films.

  • Provide medical support for chemotherapy and day unit services.

  • To be available for advice to junior doctors, attending ward/day unit as necessary.

  • To liaise with GPs and provide advice in consultation with Consultant Haematologist.

  • To assist with, attend and contribute to patient management at MD

  • GMC registration
  • MBBS or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP

Experience

  • 2 years hospital experience within Clinical Haematology
  • 4 years experience post medical qualification
  • Management of clinics

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues and other specialties
