Job overview

The advertised post is for a full-time trust Speciality Doctor in the Department of Stroke Medicine at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.

The appointee will form an important link between the acute medicine, medical inpatients, and Stroke department at Broomfield Hospital.

On a rotational basis, the appointee may provide support at a community hospital for medical cover of inpatients in stroke rehabilitation unit.

On a similar note, rotational input into Neurology would be encouraged.

Individuals without Specialty experience but with at least 4 years experience  in Stroke Medicine may be considered for a unbanded post of Senior Clinical Fellow with the view to progress to Speciality Doctor following fulfilment of criteria.

Main duties of the job

  •  You will work independently with close support from consultant colleagues.
  • Liaise between nurses, junior doctors, patients, relatives, and senior medical staff.
  • Attend to the day-to-day management of day cases, out-patients and in-patients.
  • Attend and participate in ward rounds as timetabled.
  • Attend general and specialist outpatient and diagnostic clinics.
  • Teach medical students as directed.
  • Supervise, monitor, and assist the junior doctors.
  • Take part in rostered emergency work.
  • To keep up-to date with all administrative duties including letters, results and discharge summaries as required.
  • Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
  • Comply with all local policies.
