Job overview
We're looking for an ICT apprentice to join our team.
Our ICT department has a proven record of bringing in apprentices and giving them the chance to learn and progress into our team.
If you have an interest in helping patients - by helping staff with their IT needs and want a hands on IT job where you can get stuck in, then this is for you.
Main duties of the job
You'll be exposed to everything from our busy service desk, to hardware replacements on wards and clinical areas.
You'll be happy to do simple tasks and learn how to do more complex IT support as you progress. This position allows you to work with a team of 70+ dedicated IT professionals who will support you. You'll be willing to put the effort in to learn and work hard to support our Trust and our colleagues.
Travel to our community sites will be part of the role, so a full driving license is essential

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To help install, maintain and troubleshoot network/wireless, telecom, PC hardware and software faults and service request.
- Engage in 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support tasks in relation to the trusts 12,000+ users
- To maintain application installation and configuration documentation
- Monitoring issue tracking system and responding in a timely manner to tickets that have been raised
- Troubleshooting and either resolving or escalating desktop or network computer issues
- Performing software upgrades and installation
- Software installation and configuration for new desktop, laptop and surface computers
- Adding, amending and removing user accounts
- Providing a friendly and sympathetic service to fellow colleagues
- To log all calls and tasks on the Trust’s call logging system, update and track call progress through to resolution ensuring that requests and faults are actioned in accordance with service level agreements
- Carry out any other related and relevant duties requested by ICT colleagues
- Conform to the Trust’s Data Protection and Security Policy, the Data Protection Act and the Computer Misuse Act, ensure conformance to and promote the Trust’s IT Standards.

Education
Essential criteria
- GSCSs at Grade C, or equivalent, including Mathematics and English
- Driving license

- Knowledge of ICT principles such as ITIL

- Able to prioritise and work to deadlines.
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
