Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technician to join the ICENI Centre team!

This role will suit a person with a keen interest in working with state of the art augmented and virtual reality simulation equipment.

The ICENI Centre is a purpose-built medical education, research, innovation and training centre, located on the Colchester Hospital site.

With facilities comprising of a lecture theatre linked to the operating theatres, seminar rooms, skills laboratory and a mock operating theatre, the ICENI Centre’s faculty includes leading healthcare experts from within the Trust, the UK and across the globe.

The Centre’s simulation suite has recently been upgraded to include ‘state of the art’ virtual reality training simulation equipment and our course curriculum is evolving to incorporate this new technology into training delivery.  The ideal candidate will be flexible in their approach to taking on new tasks, as the Centre continues to grow.

With a growing reputation for delivering first class learning opportunities for healthcare professionals, the Centre also attracts delegates both locally, nationally and internationally.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide technical support to the delivery of education and training across the Trust. With a focus on simulation training you will also provide wider support on the equipment and technology used to enable training delivery (eg audio visual and on-line). The education and training curriculum supported by this role will cover the full breadth of learners within ESNEFT. You will be expected to maintain equipment and acquire the knowledge to be able to trouble-shoot when simulation technology is not working correctly. The Trust will support the individual in acquiring this knowledge and skill.
  • In line with the above, the role involves setting up AV equipment for recording content for promotional material and delivery of courses on-line. This to aid and support our marketing lead within the centre.

Working for our organisation

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes.

We are the largest NHS organisation in East Anglia, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, then we want to hear from you.
