Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join our Neurology team at Colchester hospital in the Specialist Medicine CDG.

ENEFT recognises that neurology patients have some of the most challenging and complex illnesses.

With this in mind, the Trust wants to invest in and develop its neurology services, creating a centre of excellence.

We are inviting applications for a full time Neurology Consultant, with flexible working and part time options will be considered.

Applications from those with specialist interests in Epilepsy or Liaison Neurology would be  particularly welcomed

Our Enhanced Welcome package includes an additional £13,000 and relocation costs to thank you for choosing to work at our trust and your new journey with ESNEFT.

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to come and work within our Neurology team at Colchester hospital.  We are looking for someone who can work closely with the management team to help drive our service forward and support with our integration across the region and keen to develop a specialist service.

The Neurology department at Colchester has a budget for 4 consultants and we have six specialist nurses (two in Epilepsy, two in Multiple Sclerosis & two in Parkinson’s Disease).  We also have strong links with the Neuro rehab and Neuro physiology team.

Together, the Neurology staff provide a wide variety of outpatient clinics at Colchester Hospital. Demand for neurology outpatient services has been rising steadily over the past decade and the service currently sees approximately 3600 new patients each year. All consultants contribute to the general Neurology outpatient service, which includes a fast-track pathway for patients with suspected seizures. In addition there are subspecialty clinics for patients.

Working for our organisation

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organisation in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, then we want to hear from you.
