Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is at the heart of all we do; and it forms part of the ESNEFT’s core activities. The Trust operates and relies on everyone treating each other with dignity and respect, to receive equitable and fair treatment in the implementation of Policies, Procedures and in its Practices, to foster positive work relationships, and finally to act with integrity as a professional within ESNEFT as well as a representative of the NHS as a whole.  The EDI Agenda reflects the Trust values such as Optimistic, Appreciative and Kind. In line with the NHS Long Term Plan, People Plan, People Promise and a Model Employer intrinsic in the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Agenda, we consistently strive to improve, to take the learning into Action for a better ESNEFT.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge then we are keen to hear from you.

Job overview

The Urology and General Surgery teams  are  located  across  two  sites,  Colchester  and  Ipswich.  The appointee will work across both sites and support work within the ICB to ensure alignment with the trust drive to address child health inequalities by improving access to children’s surgical services. In 2020, the trust introduced robotic surgery. This has enabled the conversion of a nationally recognised laparoscopic centre to a leading robotic surgical centre. Innovation is highly valued and supported at ESNEFT.

The appointee will be based within the Urology department and will join 12 substantive and 3 locum consultants in the ESNEFT urology team with clinical commitments at both the Colchester and Ipswich sites.  Current paediatric urological and surgical services have been provided by both urologists and general surgeons with an interest in paediatric surgery. Specialist tertiary support is provided by a visiting consultant paediatric surgeon from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Tertiary referrals are made for more complex cases and there are links with Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Our Enhanced Welcome package includes an additional £20,000 Welcome Bonus and relocation costs to thank you for choosing to work at our Trust and your new journey with ESNEFT

Interviews will take place on the 26th of July 2024.

Working for our organisation

We deliver care services from two main hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, six community hospitals, high street clinics and in patients’ own homes. We have nearly 10,000 staff, with an annual budget of over £650 million. We are the largest NHS organisation in the East Anglia.

We are building for better care with an exciting capital development programme across our sites – totalling £100million over the next five years.

We are building a new elective orthopaedic centre for ESNEFT at Colchester Hospital. It will be one of the biggest centres in the country and will ensure we can retain complex and low volume cases locally for the people we serve.

We are also now building a £7million specialist interventional radiology and cardiac angiography unit at Colchester.

At Ipswich we are investing £35million in a new Emergency Department and co-located Urgent Treatment Centre, with additional diagnostic imaging kit (MRI and CT).
