Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Sister on our Children's Elective Care unit in Colchester.

You will be responsible for the management of the Children's Elective Care Unit (CECU), including Children's Outpatient Department and medical/surgical Day cases. You will provide clinical leadership and direction for the nursing team.

You will need to be a highly motivated individual who is keen to further develop and lead. You must be dynamic and enthusiastic to lead the clinical team and ensure best practice and high standards of care are maintained at all times.

In turn, we are keen to give you the opportunity to further develop your skills and practice, supporting you in your career development.

This is part time post for 18.75 hours per week, working alongside with current Sister.

Main duties of the job

  • To effectively manage and develop nursing staff and services to provide professional and managerial 
    leadership in the delivery of high quality, safe, cost effective care of children, families and staff. 

  • To inspire and facilitate the development of staff by providing an open supportive and encouraging 
    environment in which all staff feel valued and where best practice prospers

Essential criteria
  • RSCN/RGN, RN Child
  • EPLS
  • ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Diploma in Nursing
Desirable criteria
  • BSc in Child Health
  • Undertake current academic study
  • Certificate in Management

Experience

  • Previous experience in Children’s nursing at Band 6
  • Clinical expertise within speciality
