About our Pharmacy Service

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic staff to join our modern purpose-built facilities at the Colchester hospital site.

You will be based within the Pharmacy department at Colchester Hospital but will spend a significant amount of time working around the hospital site, ensuring the supply and delivery of medicines to clinical areas.

Our friendly pharmacy team are dedicated to nurturing, mentoring and developing our staff to reach their full potential.

ESNEFT is about to embark on a full site wide implementation of the EPIC electronic patient record which includes electronic prescribing and administration and pharmacy stock control system replacement.

In addition to our fully automated dispensaries, we host one of the NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service medicines advice sites and the Regional Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit (including a brand new Aseptic facility).

Main duties of the job

Provide a holistic Medicines Supply service to both internal and external customers in line with agreed pharmacy standards.

Carry out a re-stocking service to the supply service customers.

Receipt pharmaceuticals into the department from external wholesalers and suppliers; checking invoices diligently and in line with departmental procedures; then storing within Pharmacy in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.

Issue and prepare goods for dispatch to customers.

Assist the Principal Technician for Stores and Distribution Services in ensuring that all required medication safety and governance issues are actioned within the working environment.
