Job overview
The Therapy service at Colchester General Hospital is looking for a dynamic experienced Occupational or Physiotherapist to Lead our Inpatient Medical Team.
You will manage a group of Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, therapy assistant practitioners, and therapy assistants, as well as carrying a complex caseload within Inpatient Medicine. The role currently leads four medical wards covering medical specialities such as renal, gastroenterology, endocrinology and medical short stay.
You would also need to be an experienced clinical educator, who is able to take students on placement from local universities.
Main duties of the job
This role will suit a dynamic Therapist who has a broad range of clinical experience in Acute Medicine and some managerial experience. The post is based in a friendly and forward thinking department, where you will be supported by the professional leads, operations team and the other team leads.
The department is based in Colchester Hospital which is within East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT). This forms the largest general hospital in the eastern region providing a number of specialist services. The therapy service has a high profile within the trust and thrives on innovation and challenge.
You would be expected to work approx. 1 weekend in 5 as part of 7 day working, and, if a Physiotherapist, participate in the respiratory on-call rota.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Physio /OT
- HCPC Registered Physiotherapist / OT
- Working at Masters Level as demonstrated by ongoing CPD including ‘M’ level accreditation.
Desirable criteria
- Recognised post graduate qualification e.g. MSc / PGCert in appropriate subject
- Membership of Special Interest Group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven post registration experience across a range of services / rotations
- Proven Senior level (rotational) experience to include Neurology (TBI's), general medicine and Respiratory wards,
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary / interdisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of student supervision and clinical education
- Previous experience of formal presentations to multi professional groups
- Experience of research methodology
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
Desirable criteria
- Competent IT skills
- Proven clinical leadership ability
