Job overview
Colchester Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Operating Department Practitioner to join our caring, supportive, and compassionate team. This post is ideal if you are passionate about your profession and committed to delivering high-quality patient focused care.
Our theatre suites comprise of 17 theatres. One inpatient theatre is a hybrid vascular theatre used for vascular & interventional radiological procedures, 3 new state of the art robotic system for abdominal & pelvic surgery and 3 theatres are integrated for Laparoscopic use.
You will receive excellent in-house training to support all areas of working across Anaesthetics.
A flexible approach to working shifts is required.
(HCPC registration is required for the role)
(Applicants enrolling through the overseas route must demonstrate their English language proficiently with a certificate from an English language competency exam)
(Part time hours considered)
Main duties of the job
- To provide clinically effective, high quality, individualised peri-operative patient care working within the multi-disciplinary team.
- To promote a safe and attractive working environment that encourages learning.
- To contribute to the continuing development of peri-operative and professional practice ensuring practice is evidence based.
- To support the integration of clinical governance into all aspects of patient care delivery.
- To demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to achieve the learning outcomes of departmental programmes and competencies.

Essential criteria
- Has experience of working within a team.
- Evidence of Exposure to or understanding Relevant Clinical Experience

- Previous relevant perioperative experience
- Previous Ophthalmology Experience
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- ODP
- To undertake Anaesthetic practice be able to evidence achievement of recognised national standards
- Evidence of continued professional Development Plans
Desirable criteria
- Dip HE (or working towards)
- ILS Course
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understands the clinical role of a Nurse/ODP within the Perioperative team
Desirable criteria
- Has evidence of professional portfolio development
Skills
