We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Theatre Clinical lead to join our team of practitioners in the South Theatres, Ipswich Hospital.

This post is integral to the effectiveness of South Theatres and provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to play a fundamental role in the development of Elective Surgical Surgery at Ipswich Hospital. You will deliver outstanding leadership and expertise in the clinical environment and lead a clinical specialist team.

You will be supported by the Matron for Theatres and Anaesthetics, Clinical Educator and the Clinical Leads for the other theatres.

Main duties of the job

As a South Theatres Clinical Lead, you will support the Matron in optimising the operational management of theatres including the management of all staff within South Theatres. You will act as a role model, mentor and adviser to all theatres staff you manage. You will develop your team and workplace cultures to ensure that highest standards are maintained at all times.

As an already developed senior theatre practitioner, you will have advanced specialist knowledge and skills and expertise in clinical practice. You will manage complex day to day operational challenges, balancing these demands with other aspects of the Clinical Lead workload.

You will assist in the education and development of other members of staff and support clinical excellence by developing student learning. You will also collaborate with the theatres leadership team in developing and reviewing the theatre services.  

You will promote multi-disciplinary working to assist in the delivery of a patient-centred, clinically effective patient care. You should be caring, compassionate, forward thinking, well-organised and have a positive attitude towards flexibility and change. You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse 1st Level / Registered ODP
  • Recognised management / Leadership qualification
  • D32/33 or equivalent or willing to undertake.
  • Evidence of Staff management experience and relevant study
Desirable criteria
  • Degree or working toward
  • Health Care Management qualification
  • Advanced practitioner award

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience at Band 6 within peri-operative speciality
  • Proven knowledge of suite/team management.
  • Experience of acting within a lead role in MDT and working across boundaries
  • Experience in change management
  • Participation in recruitment and retention
  • Experience of leading teams at unit level
