RSHE and Co-production Coordinator (Essex)

Essex Sexual Health Service (ESHS) are looking for an experienced Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) coordinator to oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of RSHE delivered by the service, supporting both young people and education staff across Essex in the delivery of age and stage appropriate education on relationships, sexual health and wellbeing.

The role will have a strong focus on youth engagement and participation, ensuring that content is both in line with daily challenges faced by young people, whilst also working in line with the national curriculum and government guidance. The post holder will also engage with parents and carers and wider stakeholders to support in a holistic approach to relationships and sexual health education

  1. To design, deliver and implement a comprehensive age and stage appropriate RSHE curriculum that aligns with national guidance and in line with Provides RHSE policy, to be delivered in mainstream educational settings, special schools, PRUs and community settings

 

  1. To design, deliver and implement training to educational staff and other professionals to equip them to confidently deliver inclusive RSHE

 

  1. To lead on ESHS RSHE Recognition Award Scheme, supporting educational establishments across Essex to adopt a whole school approach to RSHE and receive recognition for their commitment to RSHE

 

  1. To lead on ESHS live broadcasting facility, widening the reach of RSHE across Essex

 

  1. To regularly monitor and evaluate teaching resources, reviewing feedback from sessions to ensure packages are inclusive to all learners including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and those where English is an additional language (ESOL)

 

  1. To provide coach and mentor wider team members in relation to RSHE, observing lessons to assess quality and promote best practise

 

  1. To deliver in-house training and source additional learning opportunities for the wider team members in relation to RSHE to ensure CPD for the team

 

  1. Liaise with educational establishments, parents and carers and other external agencies to inform them about RSHE, receive feedback, and address any concerns or misconceptions

 

  1. To coordinate active engagement with young people, educational staff and other stakeholders and service users to gather feedback, influence service development and ensure that their perspectives are integrated into the decision-making process

 

  1. To proactively explore new and innovative ways to effectively engage with young people and deliver RSHE that meets their needs

 

  1. To work directly with young people who may be at risk of harm or sexual ill health through ESHS 1-2-1 education and early intervention programme, supporting them to increase their knowledge and skills to make informed decisions.

 

  1. To maintain and use systems to monitor and record HP/BCC interventions, ensuring high quality of data entry on clinical and client service databases and to accurately contribute data for reporting as requested for service monitoring reports.

 

13. To establish and maintain relationships of trust with partner agencies, and to professionally represent ESHS with target populations and partner agencies both at meetings with key providers and during HP/BCC interventions adhering to ESHS values and policies.

 

  1. Use a wide range of methods to engage diverse communities including social media, radio, TV, attending community events and groups, and visiting commercial and community venues, and public sex environments.

 

  1. To manage own workload, maintaining and updating calendars, annual leave records, and to notify line manager of any change in personal circumstances or personal information relevant to the role.

 

  1. Taking an active and continued responsibility for self-led education relevant to the role. This includes maintaining awareness of local and national campaigns and statistics related to sexual health and HIV.

 

  1. Working flexibly to meet the ever-developing needs of the service and its service users across a wide geographical location. This includes flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

  • To have solid knowledge of RSHE subjects

  • Experience working directly with young people on a 1-2-1 basis
  • Experience of working with young people with SEND or ESOL

  • To have the ability to create safe and inclusive learning environments to safely deliver sensitive topics such as relationships, sexuality, consent and personal safety
  • Confidence in managing challenging conversations and addressing concerns from pupils, educational staff or parents and carers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate at different levels, build & manage relationships with a range of stakeholders and young people
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and communicate to support/gain support from a wider team
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and database entry skills
  • Good standards of accuracy, numeracy and literacy; ability to input data onto clinical and client databases
