Job overview

East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust Pathology Services are looking for a strong, flexible leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join the Governance and Quality team as the Deputy Computer Systems Validation (CSV) Lead. 

You will be part of the Validation team leading on your own projects and be able to deputise for the CSV Lead on occasion. You will work in collaboration with the laboratory teams, Service Leads, Operations Managers, Head of Operations Quality Managers and Head of Quality to ensure that Pathology becomes progressively more efficient in delivering a high quality service across both sites assuring regulatory and accreditation requirements to ISO 15189, MHRA, HSE, and others as required.

You will be expected to work closely with all staff to ensure an efficient and effective corporate approach in dealing with all matters. You will have excellent attention to detail and extensive experience in leading and managing validation projects to implement and maintain accreditation and continuous improvement.

This role requires you to travel across Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals with an element of working from home. This role is full time, however we would consider part time.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for key projects, including the planning, co-production and implementation of validation projects across Cancer & Diagnostics division. 

Process/analyse highly specialised data and information with a high level of accuracy.  

Provide specialist training and expert advice in CSV validation methods and tools.

Deputise for the CSV Lead in all aspects of their role including Human Resources and management of project delivery.

Support the coordination of the working priorities of the CSV team ensuring that resources are allocated to appropriate projects / skill mix.

Be aware of emerging and current best practice, liaising with service users and stakeholders to promote service improvement, ensuring impacts of changes to service models and business processes are properly considered, understood and managed as part of the programme governance structures within the Trust.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in management or clinical leadership within an acute NHS organisation
  • Experience of leading change projects with impact at a Trust wide level
  • Experience of presenting to large and small groups including up to Board level
  • Experience of working in a complex environment
  • Experience of leading change initiatives within an operational or clinical team
  • Identifying and interpreting national policy and implementing required changes
  • Experience of engagement and motivating teams to successfully deliver service improvements
  • Experience of delivering computer systems validation activity to satisfy regulatory standards.
Desirable criteria
  • Subject Matter Expert in a Pathology discipline (e.g Blood Transfusion, Histopathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology)
  • HCPC Registration
  • Experience of line management
  • Experience of participation in ‘system-wide’ change management projects

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or with the equivalent professional experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Formal training in process change methods e.g./ LEAN
  • Project Management qualification
