Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Practitioner Psychologist to take up a split post, working 0.5 WTE within our Personality Disorder and Complex Needs (PD&CN) service and 0.5 WTE in the Specialist Adult Community Mental Health Team (SMHT) based at Stansted, Essex. This post is available at Band 7 or Band 8a, dependent on experience. If appointed at Band 7 this will be a developmental post and the post-holder will work through a preceptorship towards Band 8a level.  We are looking for someone interested in developing expertise in specific psychological interventions aimed at reducing risk and addressing emotional dysregulation, preferably Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and we will support further training to achieve this.

We offer a CPD package of up to £6,000 to be used in the first three years of employment following successful completion of the probationary period and linked to the appraisal process as agreed with your line manager.

Main duties of the job

Your role in the SMHT will place you alongside experienced psychologists, offering assessment, formulation and provision of evidence-based psychological therapies for people with a wide range of mental health difficulties.  We use a trauma-informed consultation approach to support our MDT colleagues to actively engage clients in safety and stabilisation work. This psychologically informed approach to client care ensures that clients are able to make effective use of more formal psychological interventions/therapies.

You will also play a key role in developing local PD&CN services.  For example you will be supported to develop a local ‘Multi-Agency Forum’ which is a much valued space for multi-disciplinary clinical discussion and treatment planning for our complex clients across West Essex.  You will also provide specialist supervision, consultation and training to MDT colleagues.  This part of the role supports three locality mental health treatment teams in Harlow, Stansted and Loughton.  Depending on your level of experience you may also offer supervision to a CAP, to trainees and assistants.  You will be supported to link in with other PD&CN leads across Essex.

There is a strong sense of cohesion and support amongst psychologists working in West Essex.  We have a monthly District wide meeting where we get together to share our experiences, we have monthly community psychology meetings and a monthly CPD protected session.

Working for our organisation

EPUT are looking for motivated staff who shares our Trust values of Care, Learn and Empower. In return, EPUT can offer you a range of benefits and development including;

  • Excellent Training facilities and opportunities

  • The opportunity to work bank shifts and expand knowledge and experience in other areas
  • Salary Sacrifice schemes including lease cars and Cycle to Work
  • Day One Flexible Employer

If appointed, you will have the opportunity to apply for a flexible working request from the first day of your employment
