Job overview

Ther Outpatient Appointments department is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the team as a Booking Officer. This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday.

You will be supporting the wider Outpatient Team, which includes reception, outpatient appointments department and medical records. This is a dynamic and varied role which is vital to supporting our patients and improving their experience. Full training of in house systems will be given

Previous NHS experience in a similar role is desirable but anyone with previous clerical and customer service experience is encouraged to apply!

Main duties of the job

  • Communicating with our patients and Service users.
  • Answering telephones and email enquiries.
  • Contacting patients by telephone or text messaging.
  • Processing letters to patients.
  • Face-to-face greeting of our visitors, including virtual consultations via various platforms.
  • Checking and inputting of data to computer systems, keeping information up to date and accurate.
  • Ensuring the security of our data and data flows.
  • Responding to service developments including the use of new technologies.
  • Preparing, collecting and delivering of Medical Records.
  • Supporting Trust wide staff in the excellent delivery of outstanding service to our users and visitors.
  • Responding to change and displaying and open and honest approach.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
