Trosolwg o'r swydd

The Catering Manager  together with our Production Chef Manager will be responsible for the provision of a high quality, cost effective and safe catering service for patients, staff and visitors to the Princess Alexandra NHS Trust, which encapsulates the NHS guidelines on nutrition and the Better Hospital Food Programme.

The Food Production is based on traditional cooking methods using a large amount of fresh produce. This is a 7 day week / 365 days a year operation with the workforce on duty from 6:00 a.m. until 21.00 p.m. 

The role is day to day management of the main kitchen chefs and kitchen assistants, with the need to cover on-call functions in line with roster of other Facilities Managers.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  •         To work closely and in tandem with the Production Chef Manager ensure a high quality, cost effective and safe catering service.
  •      Responsible for providing agreed standards of catering to the unit as per agreed specification and for the development of the service
  •       To manage Staff Restaurant. Carrying out line management duties, for example sickness reviews, allocation of tasks, dealing with complaints and ensuring sufficient staffing levels
  •         To be flexible in undertaking the duties of the role.
  •         Understand the principles of H&S management procedures.
  •         Reporting regularly on progress.
  •         Monitor performance against agreed output targets and instigate corrective action when these not met.
  •         Attending meetings and liaising with other departments and organisations, completing records.
  •         Prepare and deliver reports in relation to the assigned areas of responsibility as requested.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
