At Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, the Learning & Development department is going through an exciting period of change.

We are seeking an experienced senior digital learning professional to lead the design of a sustainable and innovative digital learning strategy, to help augment our learning and performance culture.

You will consolidate and integrate current systems with novel approaches to digital learning, keeping abreast of market leading materials and technologies.

In previous roles, you will have played a prominent role in developing a high-level digital strategy and learning platforms for a diverse group of functional groups and are now seeking the next step in your managerial and leadership career.

Main duties of the job

•    You will report directly to the Associate Director of EDI, OD & Learning and will be a key member of the senior leadership team which also includes Head of Learning & OD and Head of EDI

•    You will develop and manage key relationships with senior leaders across the Trust including, Divisional Leadership Teams, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and trainers, across clinical and non-clinical areas, as well as Heads of Profession. You will work closely with the professional educational/training leads.

•    As secretariat to the Statutory and Mandatory Governance Group (SMGG), deputising as Chair when needed, you will be expected to regularly report (and present if required) to Trust boards and committees.

•    Across Herts and West Essex Integrated Care System, you will work closely with your counterparts in the other two other Acute Provider Trusts seeking out ways for greater collaboration in line with the People team strategy.

•    You will support relationships with  key external stakeholders (such as CQC, NHS England) as well as the contract management and relationships with our external learning providers.

•    You will need to build and develop excellent working relationships across the system with NHS England and other Trusts.

•    You will be expected to maintain your professional network supporting your continuous professional development to support horizon scanning and innovation in this area.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to relevant masters level qualification or equivalent experience in learning and organisational development or digital environments.
  • Member or fellow of a relevant professional body with evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management qualification or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects within an NHS or equivalent setting
  • Experience of designing and implementing innovative learning techniques in a large organisation
  • Experience in audit/inspections, or compliance frameworks and/or working within framework of externally imposed standards
  • Specialist knowledge and management of learning platforms in large complex organisations including experience of procurement and system implementation of a LMS (or similar)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading and managing a team
  • Experience at leading Statutory and Mandatory Training agenda in a large complex organisation

Skills and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Up-to-date knowledge of learning infrastructure (both current and emerging) and creating plans to maximise functionality and user experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills (written and interpersonal) including the ability to explain, motivate, engage, influence, persuade and challenge at all levels and from staff representative groups to external stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and accuracy incl. advanced analytical skills with ability to draw insights from a wide range of data sources and present complex information in a way that is easily understood.
