The Cancer Team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital  are looking to appoint a Band 7 Upper GI Cancer Nurse Specialist to help support and further develop our Upper GI cancer service.

This is an unique opportunity for any nurse who has extensive experience as a senior band 6 within gastroenterology or cancer care who wishes to expand their clinical skills and knowledge to continue to develop the service which is fully patient centred.

The nurse will be a highly visible presence across the speciality and wards, working to ensure the highest standards of care, setting and maintaining standards of clinical excellence and continuously improving experiences for patients, families and carers. They will work both independently and as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team.

The patient experience will be a priority for you with a strong emphasis on compassion and dignity. You will be supported by an experienced and committed management team.

For this role you will need to have current NMC Nursing registration with post qualification experience.

Possession of excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills coupled with evidence of continuing professional development is essential.

In addition you will be required to demonstrate a flexible approach to work.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will work as the lead CNS utilising your specialist knowledge to effectively co-ordinate and deliver an expert nursing service to those patients with a diagnosis of Upper GI cancer at Princess Alexandra Hospital. You will take on the Keyworker role and manage a caseload of patients/clients, which you will be actively involved with through investigations, diagnosis, treatment and follow up post treatment.

The post holder will be responsible for developing a service for patients with Upper GI cancer who require supportive nursing interventions. You will have specialist knowledge in this area of care and will lead on ensuring evidence-based practice and care are available. The post holder will work autonomously managing their own workload and be an active core member of the Upper GI MDT.
