Job overview
Our Apprenticeship HCSW Academy will provide employment opportunities across all areas of the Trust for people wanting to enter into Healthcare Professions.
These roles are available for those without significant prior experience & will open up career pathways into nursing and/or allied health professions such as Physiotherapy or Speech & Language, as well as routes into theatres or other specialist areas.
You will join the Trust as Health Care Support Workers providing personal care to patients.
This opportunity is open for those without experience, & will include the completion of a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship.
Applicants must be able to meet & provide the following:
- Attend an Assessment Day in Ipswich on 20th November
- Commit to a start date of 23rd January 2025 (we would not encourage annual leave within the first 8 weeks)
- Meet the eligibility criteria of:
- Ordinarily resident in the UK or a European Economic Area for the last 3 years
- Have residency status and/or a visa that allows you to work
- Meet pre employment requirements including ability to provide references to cover the last three years/satisfactory DBS check & Occupational Health requirement
- As you will be working shifts including nights you must be 18 or older at commencement

Main duties of the job
The Academy will start week commencing 23rd January and may include some roles working within our Community services.
The programme will include an initial period of 8 weeks in a classroom based environment, with work placements on ward areas to support the development of skills. The topics to be taught will include communication, basic life support, health and safety, equality and diversity, and duty of care to name a few.
There is a requirement for all apprentices to complete maths and English at the right level, but these can be delivered as part of the apprenticeship, if not already achieved, by our Functional Skills tutors.
