Are you a Registered Nurse with acute hospital experience? 

We have a rare opportunity based in our Gynaecology department at Ipswich hospital. Our team in Gynaecology Clinic are seeking an experienced Nurse looking to develop their career within Women's Services.   

This is a part time post 25 hours per week, fixed term/secondment contract for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure that safe, effective and holistic patient care is delivered
  • Assist patients with preparation for examination and clinical procedures.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care in partnership with clinicians, patients and relatives/carers
  • Accurately observe patient’s condition and initiate appropriate action
  • Administer medication safely to patients, occasionally including IV and Controlled drugs
  • To be responsible for the quality of data recorded. The data should be accurate, legible (if hand written), recorded in a timely manner, kept up to date and appropriately filed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and staff
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the Multi professional team.
  • To proactively utilise and implements all infection control policy’s within the trust, ensuring effective use of personal protective equipment, hand washing/ decolonisation between activities and adherence to isolation procedures within your daily practice.
  • To challenge any member of staff not undertaking correct infection control procedures, and to educate staff members in the correct procedures if required.
  • To inform a relevant line manger if a staff member persistently fails to comply with infection control procedures.
  • Participate in patient/carer education e.g. advice about patient’s condition/needs, health promotion, post procedure care advice etc.
