Job overview
A development opportunity has arisen to join our enthusiastic and motivated Urgent and Emergency Care Team at Ipswich Hospital as a Service Manager.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we recently moved into a new state of the art, purpose-built Urgent and Emergency Care Centre.
Are you:
- An experienced leader with the ability to influence and engage others.
- Someone who has the ability to monitor performance standards and work with clinical teams to improve performance within a pressurised environment
- Has ability to engage and discuss patient care with clinical teams, providing operational management support to motivate teams and improve performance
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of what constitutes safe and effective care, and work with clinical teams to support delivery
- Demonstrate patients focus and a clear understating of the importance of patients experience and feedback to inform service redesign.
We ideally need the right applicant to start in this role immediately, following successful pre-employment checks, as it is a fixed term/secondment role for 9 months
Current ESNEFT employees will be offered on a secondment basis only, subject to approval of their line managers.

Main duties of the job
- To deliver an efficient and effective administrative service throughout the patient pathway of care by effective management of the administration staff and overseeing the Operational Coordinator
- To champion delivery of the 4 hour operational standard for Urgent and Emergency care
- To support recording, reporting and delivery of the Emergency Care Data Set (ECDS), analysing performance and suggesting improvement measures
- To champion the Patient Access Policy and have oversight of all performance metrics within medicine, including the RTT and cancer targets.
- IN collaboration with Matrons/Band 7 Nurse in Charge to champion Patient Experience have oversight of all quality metrics to support the delivery of safe effective care
- To provide support with patient flow via the emergency department and acute medical wards to the base wards and specialty wards. This will involve being the dedicated bed manager on the divisional rota.
- To support the Division in the achievement of its financial performance and operational objectives, ensuring workforce, accommodation and equipment resources are optimised.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level of equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Post graduate diploma in Management or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge and skills to Masters level through relevant experience or qualification
Desirable criteria
- Health service management qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience
Essential criteria
- An understanding of the management of clinical services
- Budget management experience and understanding of financial framework within NHS
- Project or Change management.
- Proven years’ experience in any of the following; NHS waiting list management; Administration management; Customer Care; Staff supervision; Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams; Portal User
- Evidence of managing clinical services
