Job overview

A very exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our Medical Team at Ipswich in a Static post.

We are an integrated therapy team with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistant Practitioners working closely together to provide early therapeutic interventions for our patients on our admission wards.

We are providing a comprehensive holistic Therapy assessment with patients on the admission wards at Ipswich Hospital.  This assessment forms the basis of the patients’ journey within the hospital, providing early identification of Frailty and prevention of deconditioning. 

As part of the role, you will be expected to perform evidenced based therapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, social and psychological conditions. You will formulate, implement and deliver individualised treatment programmes, set SMART goals and facilitate early discharge planning. 

We are looking for someone who is driven and passionate about early intervention in the acute setting.   You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills to work in this fast paced busy environment.

For Physiotherapists, you will need to have adequate respiratory skills to assess, treat and manage acutely unwell patients with respiratory conditions or willing to develop these skills.

There are comprehensive CPD opportunities within the Trust to support your development and career progression.  In addition to this within Therapies there are  multiple learning opportunities, in house training and opportunities to teach and develop others within the team.   You will be well supported by senior colleagues in the team and have opportunities to supervise and mentor junior colleagues.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • BSc / MSc Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy
  • • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist / Occupational Therapist
Desirable criteria
  • • Student educator course
  • • Non-clinical courses
  • • Validated post registration courses
  • • Information technology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of multi-disciplinary working
  • • Comprehensive range of junior rotations with experience of complex caseload management.
  • • Experience of facilitating discharges from the acute setting and/or managing a caseload of patients within the community.
  • • In-service training and reflective learning
  • • Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner
  • • Prioritisation of workload
  • • Respiratory on-call (physiotherapists only)
Desirable criteria
  • • Supervision of students in any environment
  • • Clinical Audit
  • • Input into service improvement

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Broad knowledge of; respiratory (Physiotherapist only), neurology, elderly and trauma and orthopaedic conditions and their management.
