An opportunity has arisen within the Pharmacy Department at the Southend site for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior pharmacy technician to develop a clinical service on our Women's and Children's wards  

We are looking for a Band 6 Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, to join our department.   The post holder will actively be involved in leading and implementing a service to our women's and children's wards within the hospital. They will also contribute to a wide range of other pharmacy services including Dispensary services, Homecare, Education and Training, Medicine Management and Optimisation, and Trials when needed.

The right applicant will be a dedicated, hardworking individual that works well in a team environment as well as under own initiative.  Attention to detail and organisational skills are essential.

Current recognised ACT qualification or significant progress towards the qualification is essential to this role.  Applicants without previous management experience will be considered.  

Main duties of the job

 

  • To assist managing the provision of a medicines management service to the women's and children's wards.
  • To liaise with doctors and nurses regarding discrepancies with patients medication to improve patient safety
  • To provide advice to patients and parents regarding medications
  • To deputise for Principle Pharmacist at Trust meetings
  • To support other services within the pharmacy department including dispensary, procurement, ward technician services and trials

  • More than 1 years post qualification experience within a hospital setting
