Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, Registered Dietitian with proven operational and clinical leadership capabilities to work alongside our existing Service Leads to complete our compassionate, senior leadership team. We are a forward-thinking team with a reputation for providing excellent clinical care both in the acute setting and community.
We are interested to hear from people with previous experience in managing a team in any clinical field and with experience of audit and service development alongside a knowledge of digital patient booking and record-keeping systems. The department has a structured approach to Clinical Governance and actively promotes personal development, clinical supervision, and training opportunities.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team of acute and community Dietitians in providing a high-quality dietetic service to the population of Southend. The post holder will be professionally responsible and accountable for the operational management of the service and will have prior experience in managing a team.

- To directly manage and provide excellent leadership to the Acute Dietetic Team.
- Work closely with Dietetic Leads on the other sites to ensure parity of service and shared knowledge and skills.
- Maintaining a small caseload and providing clinical cover as required

- To directly manage and provide excellent leadership to the adult Acute Dietetic Team, with an applied understanding of both HR and governance frameworks.
- To effectively manage a delegated budget within set resources, and work towards releasing efficiency savings through robust management and opportunities for continuous service re-design.
- To develop effective relationships with all agencies to improve patient pathways.
- To be responsible for the implementation of new roles and ways of working against set aims.
- To be involved in the monitoring of therapy activity and liaise with the Head of Therapy, General Manager and Clinical Director within therapy services to effect operational changes in partnership with other teams so that the service is flexible and responsive to meet both commissioner and patient needs.
- To be responsible for quality standards within the Acute Dietetic Team to implement a safe and effective service, delivering best practice equitable patient care.
- To demonstrate improvements in operational services through robust internal monitoring systems.
- To lead audit activity in all aspects of patient pathways.
- To contribute and engage with the MSE Therapies strategy and projects which may contribute to this.
- Work closely with Dietetic Leads on the other sites to ensure parity of service and shared knowledge and skills.
- Maintaining a small caseload and providing clinical cover as required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registered Dietitian
- Qualification in management or working towards
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant post graduate clinical experience
- Experience of planning and implementing services
- Robust understanding of clinical governance, audit and risk management
Desirable criteria
- Relevant experience of managing department / service
Communication
Essential criteria
- High level communication skills
- Able to compile reports and business cases
Desirable criteria
- Excellent ability to impart complex knowledge to patients & non-expert colleagues
