Are you a self-motivated, team player who is passionate about quality improvement & service development? We invite you to join our Dietetic team on a 12-month fixed term contract as Dietetic Clinical Improvement Lead.

The role includes clinical redesign of dietetic pathways & processes, delivering a service approach that provides best practice equitable patient care. You’ll be implementing an evidence-based methodology to clinical pathway redesign; so a good understanding of clinical systems is essential.

You’ll need to have excellent interpersonal and engagement skills, have an understanding of change management and be proficient in using systems for data collection.

You’ll ensure that agreed performance standards and service targets are met, providing advice and support to the Trust on matters relating to the adult dietetic service.

Working alongside the dietetic operational managers and will be accountable to the Head of Therapies at Southend and the General Manager for Therapies for MSE. The role will initially be based at Southend, however, the successful candidate will also work across sites at Basildon and Broomfield Hospitals as the role progresses.  

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a team of acute and community Dietitians in providing a high-quality dietetic service to the population of Southend.  The post holder will be professionally responsible and accountable for the clinical redesign of the Dietetic service and will have prior experience in project management and clinical audit.

The main duties of the job include:

•    To lead the mapping of clinical pathways within dietetics.
•    To facilitate the redesign of clinical pathways and processes to align across the three MSE hospitals in readiness for the new Electronic Patient Record system which is due for launch in 2026.
•    To work closely with Dietetic Leads across hospital sites to ensure parity of service delivery and shared knowledge and skills.
•    To work alongside senior dietitians and dietetic leads to understand the clinical demand and support innovative ways of working.
•    To report projects to Heads of Therapies, General Manager and Clinical Director for Therapies, presenting in a project management format.

  • HCPC Registered Dietitian
  • Qualification in management or working towards

Knowledge and Experience

  • Relevant post graduate clinical experience
  • Experience of planning and implementing services
  • Robust understanding of clinical governance, audit and risk management

  • Relevant experience of managing department / service

Communication
