Job overview
We are looking for a Senior Clinical Fellow ST3 + in Oncology to join our existing Oncology team at Southend.
Recent strategic developments across the area as part of the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) has seen the creation of a single integrated medical team for Oncology working across the three acute trust - Southend, Basildon and Broomfield in Chelmsford. This role will work from Southend Hospital to support the oncology service on site.

Main duties of the job
Assessment of patients having inpatient chemotherapy
Support junior doctors on Oncology wards
Support Consultants in Clinics
To participate and attend the relevant MDMs which are key to patient management
To provide cover (where appropriate) for colleague’s period of leave
To participate in the Acute Oncology Service, and the registrar on-call rota
To cover chemotherapy unit, if required in cases of A/L etc.
Multidisciplinary team working is a key component of the working in the department.
To work alongside colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high quality and safe service for patients is maintained at all times.
To provide cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences.
To ensure that proper clinical records are made and maintained.
To ensure that all inpatients are regularly reviewed and appropriate management plans are in place for all patients.
To undertake continuing medical education facilitated by funded study leave.
To participate in clinical audit, and to maintain proper clinical records for this purpose.
To undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent from a recognised Medical School.
- Full Registration with the General Medical Council
Desirable criteria
- MRCP
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Clinical Fellow ST1-8 or equivalent
- Oncology experience
- Audit & research involvement
Desirable criteria
- UK NHS hospital experience
- Interest in teaching and education
