Job overview

There is an exciting opportunity at Mid and South Essex trust for a Substantive consultant in Vascular Surgery.  MSE is formed of 3 hospitals under the one trust board – Basildon Hospital, Southend Hospital and Broomfield Hospital.

The Successful candidate will join a team of 10 consultants, undertaking outpatient clinics in Southend Hospital, elective theatre lists and participating on the on-call rotas in Basildon hospital.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a friendly, supportive team where Multi-Disciplinary Team work is envisaged as a key component the way this Trust works and will involve Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) discussion with other colleagues.

You will work in line with your colleagues, with the expectation to work in conjunction with other consultants from the Vascular Surgery Department. The workload will be based across two sites Basildon and Southend, involving in the ward rounds, reviewing emergency, post elective and inpatient referrals, additionally you will have outpatient clinics and theatre sessions.  Whilst completing your duties, you will continue to promote a friendly working environment, keeping teamwork and training at the forefront of what we do.   Teaching Primary and Junior Medical staff on a case-by-case basis, but also undertaking more formal teaching activities.

On call duties are in a 1:9 rotation that includes a mixture of both days and nights.
