Job overview

Following a period of latency, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainer to join the ePMA implementation team. The Trust already has extensive experience of the EMIS Ascribe WebPharmacy system including eMM within the pharmacy service and will be implementing the EMIS solution for ePMA.

As a Trainer joining the ePMA project implementation team, you will work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation including clinical teams and colleagues within the pharmacy team, to ensure that teams understand the use of the ePMA system and any concerns and issues are raised to the project team.

You should have knowledge or experience of delivering training particularly in a health care environment and have knowledge and experience of health care systems and processes.

We are looking for a motivated, adaptable and personable Trainer with excellent communication skills and a passion for supporting clinical teams to adopt new technologies. Previous experience with Clinician or ePMA systems is desirable but not essential, but you should be able to demonstrate excellent digital skills.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the ePMA pharmacist using expert knowledge and experience to support the clinical teams training and use of the electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) system. You will be actively involved in the delivery of training to pharmacy, ward and wider Trust staff in the use of the ePMA system and support the development of policies, procedures and training packages as well as helping staff understand the capabilities and benefits of the system in their localised setting.You will support the continued improvement of training materials to align to any system changes or training feedback throughout the project. Training will be provided in a group setting or on a 1:1 basis during system implementation and roll out and you will be required to travel to training sites and team bases across the EPUT geography.

You will develop a core knowledge of basic clinical application of the system with support from the ePMA clinical leads and effectively plan for up-coming training sessions ensuring appropriate materials are developed using a consistent approach across the Trust utilising effective training tools and methodologies.

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To actively support the identification of risks and ensure that any identified risks are investigated and reported as per Trust Policy.
  • To provide frontline application knowledge support to users of EPUTs EPMA application in response to service requirement and to respond in a professional and customer focused manner.  This will include analysing situations information.
  • To assist in the continual reviewing of the ePMA training services to ensure the content is complete and up to date.
  • To effectively plan for up-coming training sessions ensuring appropriate materials are developed using a consistent approach across the Trust. 
  • Effective use of training tools and methodologies.
  • To provide support and training where necessary for the wider trust systems.
  • To provide frontline training and support to users of which will include providing advice and technical support over the telephone or in person and explaining solutions which may be complicated to the user in a clear manner. 
  • To participate in local user groups and attend professional meetings or relevant conferences in order to provide additional information / development for the service.
  • The post holder will work on own initiative to provide solutions and exceptionally refer matters as appropriate.   
  • To create ePMA system training materials in line with Trust standards, ensuring all materials are up to date with regard to changes in software, local NHS policies and Government / Department of Health guidelines and that version control is updated and maintained.
  • To participate in the testing and adaptation of the ePMA system
  • To take responsibility for the safe use of IT systems and equipment by those attending training sessions.
  • To liaise and communicate with patients, service users and carers in an appropriate and professional manor when present on ward delivering training or supporting ePMA roll out. This may be on a one-to-one, individual basis and usually face-to-face.
