We have an exciting B8a 0.8WTE (30hours)/B7 Preceptorship opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our specialist Infant Mental Health Team. This is a small team within our Child and Adolescent Mental Health team working with parents and their infants from pregnancy up to 2 years old who are vulnerable in terms of attachment issues and maternal mental health difficulties.  This work is a chance to make a difference to a child’s lifelong emotional wellbeing and developing mental health and the team are highly committed to their role and supportive to each other.

The skills and experience we are looking for include:

Professional registered qualification and experience of working professionally with pregnant women, infants, siblings, mothers, fathers, carers and networks to support infant mental health

·      Confidence in delivering consultation, training and advice to multi-agency staff

·   Be able to work in partnership with adult mental health colleagues to promote perinatal mental health and recognise the need for early intervention.

    Clinical supervision is highly valued within the team individually and in a group setting. There is also monthly caseload management discussion and Continuing Professional Development structures in place.

·         To carry a caseload and provide a direct service for psychological issues which demand more than a standard therapeutic approach.

·         To draw appropriately from a range of assessment tools and methodologies. To interpret and integrate complex data and information from a variety of sources to develop psychological formulations and identify the most relevant intervention strategy. To monitor and evaluate progress, refining formulations and interventions as necessary. To assess and manage risk within an appropriate psychological framework.

·         To plan and prioritise workload, exercising autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based care plans.

·         To maintain appropriate records in electronic or hard copy in line with Trust policies and Professional guidelines. Includes workload data and using word processing skills to produce client related reports. 

·         To act as care coordinator where the psychological complexity of the case means it makes sense to do so. Ensuring the provision of an appropriate care package for the child and his / her family.
