Job overview

We are looking for someone with a passion for delivering the highest quality of Stroke Rehabilitation and Care to join our team.

 The In-Patient Stroke Specialist Rehabilitation Unit is based at the Vale Community Hospital in Dursley, and provides Gloucestershire residents with a dedicated Therapy-led service in a Community Hospital environment.

Main duties of the job

Rehabilitation assistants in our service work under the direction of stroke specialist therapists to deliver planned integrated therapy sessions. Working towards patient-led goals, empowering patients in their recovery following a Stroke and optimising independence. The team, including Speech & Language Therapists, Psychologist, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, work closely with Nursing colleagues to provide a high-quality service to enable patients to reach their rehabilitation potential. Our team of rehabilitation assistants provide a seven-day service representing Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE level pass or equivalent in Maths and English
  • NVQ in a relevant topic (such as health care) or other relevant training

LENGTH AND / OR NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a health or social care environment providing personal and intimate care to people
  • Experience of working with people, their families and carers who may be going through challenging experiences or difficult situations
  • Practical experience of motivating people encouraging independence
