Job overview

Gloucestershire Health and Care Foundation Trust has a fantastic opportunity to  join the IT Infrastructure team. 

The IT Infrastructure team are responsible for building, managing and maintaining the overall network and telephony infrastructure within the Trust across a diverse range of locations throughout the county.  

The team works closely with all other teams in the Digital Services department to deliver excellent IT service to our colleagues and patients. 

The Trust spans across a wide range of sites at varying sizes with some complex Infrastructure layouts and topologies.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is:

  • To develop technical solutions to support and improve the overall infrastructure, including the network and telephony estate.
  • To provide efficient and high quality support for clinicians and administrative support staff to ensure effective use of infrastructure systems within the trust
  • To contribute to the improvement in clinical care provided within the local Health Community, by making complex leading edge technology simple for staff to use.
  • To provide strong troubleshooting skills to effectively and efficiently resolve unexpected interruptions in IT network services

The post holder will need to be available on call to support users and will be required to develop new processes and policies to support the network and telephony infrastructure.

The post holder will be expected to be the trust expert in network and telephony systems ensuring best practices are applied to configuration and implementation of specialised solutions.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant computing or business management discipline or equivalent level of experience.
  • Advanced I.T. skills in, Switches, UPS, telephony and firewalls – including the ability to build and configure complex systems.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within the NHS.
  • Prince2 (Overview/Foundation) or equivalent.
  • Experience of Mitel Infrastructure Platform.
  • Experience with Cisco Hardware

LENGTH AND / OR NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of experience in a similar role, together with relevant experience in IT support, project tools and environments.
  • Track record of delivery of IT projects or system implementation to the required standards, on time and within budget.
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of NHS Information Governance principles.
  • Effective “change agent” with ability to be part of a team through significant programmes of change.

PERSONAL SKILLS ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential criteria
  • Excellent keyboard and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong skills in system architecture design for switches and associated infrastructure.
  • Good working knowledge and skills in using SharePoint, Microsoft Visio.
Desirable criteria
  • Strong skills in system architecture design for telephony systems
  • Technical Knowledge of phone technologies, for example Call routing, VOIP etc.
