We currently have a vacancy for band 3 Clinical Health Care Support Worker within the Haematology Day Unit based at Gloucestershire royal Hospital.  We are a dedicated and friendly team that provides treatment and supportive care to patients with haematological disorders including malignancies within a day care setting.

The proposed interview date for this advert is: 23rd July 

Main duties of the job

We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate health care assistant with excellent communication and organisational skills to support nursing and medical staff to manage a wide variety of assessment and treatment clinics, in addition to supporting treatment delivery in the day unit. 

Previous experience of working within a health care setting would be advantageous.

Working for our organisation

We have a dedicated Practice Development Team that provides additional support and training for our staff, you would also receive a full induction with the team once in post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be involved with running clinics and ensuring they run smoothly, involved with helping out with procedures and assisting the Trained Nurses delivering treatment in the day unit.

Preparation of notes for the following days clinics as well as providing support to patients and their family.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy, appropriate verbal and written communication
Desirable criteria
  • The Care Certificate or equivalent induction training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of basic nursing and personal care
  • Awareness of Protection Issues and the procedure to report concerns
  • Practical ability, prioritisation and time management
  • Acts as a role model and are able to lead by example to ensure the Trust’s values and behaviours are reinforced.
Desirable criteria
  • Appropriate months of recent care experience in a care setting
