These posts are very suitable for junior doctors who have completed foundation training and are considering or have already been taking a career break (e.g., to go travelling) before joining a formal specialist training programme.

In order to provide sufficient cover for leave and general medicine out of hours worked by the junior doctors in the department in substantive training posts the post-holder at various times may have to work on different wards within the medicine department.
