The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board welcomes applicants for the post of Specialty Doctor within the Gastroenterology Service at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.
The post is full time - 10 Sessions per week (plus 3 Additional Program Activity Sessions).
This post is ideal for those seeking a permanent non-consultant role.
Although this post is advertised on a permanent basis, the Gastroenterology department at Ysbyty Gwynedd has gained the reputation for supporting those who want more clinical experience/NHS experience before applying for Specialty training.
The department has also recently provided time and support to our existing doctors during their application for CESR.
Main duties of the job

Essential criteria
- MRCP part 1 & 2 or equivalent
- Full registration with GMC
- ALS
Desirable criteria
- ATLS
- Postgraduate qualification in Gastroenterology
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Gastroenterology competencies to appropriate level
- Working towards PACES
Experience
Essential criteria
- Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in Gastroenterology or as a fixed term specialty trainee
Desirable criteria
- Audit/Research
Skills
Essential criteria
- General medical/endoscopy procedures appropriate to experience
- Teach and train junior medical staff in general medicine and gastroenterology
Desirable criteria
- Keen to develop teaching skills
- Computer skills
