Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed
Job overview
This position will allow the successful applicant to develop the necessary attributes to fulfil a leading role within medical education in the future while maintaining a regular commitment to clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
- Develop knowledge, skills and experience in teaching and training
- Gain experience in the assessment of learning and peer review of teaching
- Gain experience of supervising and mentoring junior clinical colleagues with a commitment to medical education (e.g. academic foundation year doctors)
- Contribute to the development of novel local teaching programmes
- Contribute the organisation and delivery of the local widening access to medicine programme
- Fulfil the requirements needed for an educational qualification (e.g. Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Medical Education) and/ or to meet the Professional Standards Framework for teaching and supporting learning in higher education (FHEA)
- Maintain clinical practice in a relevant specialty

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MB ChB MRCP/ equivalent
- Satisfy UK/EEA immigration requirements of eligibility for work permit
Desirable criteria
- MRCEM or equivalent
- Post-graduate qualification in medical education
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completion of Foundation Year 2
Desirable criteria
- 2 Years of post-foundation programme clinical practice
Basic Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal
- Effective organisational skills and good multitasking ability
- Problem solving capabilities
- Accurate record-keeping, attention to detail
- Computer literate
Desirable criteria
- Experience or knowledge of the principles of Good Clinical Practice in Research (GCP)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent presentation skills
Other Requirements

- Enthusiasm for teaching

- Demonstrate experience in teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level
