If so, we invite you to join our Infection Control team as the Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) Lead Nurse!
As the Deputy DIPC and Lead IPC Nurse, you will play a crucial role in leading our Infection Prevention Control initiatives and ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention across our Sites. You will support the DIPC in providing strategic direction and driving continuous improvement in IPC practices.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Inspire and lead the IPC team, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation in infection prevention.
- Policy and Strategy Development: Assist in the creation and implementation of IPC policies and strategies, ensuring compliance with national and local standards.
- Education and Training: Develop and deliver comprehensive IPC training programs for all healthcare staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Surveillance and Reporting: Oversee infection surveillance programs, analyse data, and drive improvement actions.
- Clinical Expertise and Support: Provide expert IPC advice and support during clinical rounds and infection incidents.
- Audit and Compliance: Conduct regular IPC audits and develop action plans to address areas for improvement.
- Risk Management: Identify IPC risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Research and Innovation: Engage in research activities and implement evidence-based IPC practices.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with up to date NMC registration
- Specialist Practitioner qualification in infection control, including skills and competency gained through experience
- Masters degree in infection control or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, employment or voluntary work
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification
- Management qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a wide range of approaches to the management of patients, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning
- Advanced expert level of knowledge of specialist areas of nursing
- Demonstrable understanding of the role of specialist areas within the current health environment and the impact of current government/regional policy developments
- Robust understanding of all aspects of clinical governance including previous experience of quality issues, audit and risk management
- Knowledge of wider NHS nursing policies and agenda
- Understanding of national guidance and reports in relation to infection control
- Understanding of national mandatory surveillance requirements
Skills and Ability
Essential criteria
- Leadership , change management and people management skills
- Project management skills
- Good IT skills including Excel and development of software packages to facilitate management and prevention of infection
- Able to drive and have use of a car
