Job overview

The role is a primary function supporting the team for the optimal care of our paediatric patients and their families/carers. The delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate health care to our paediatric private patients attending Candover Clinic, which is part of Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust, is the most important objective for the organisation.

You will work closely with the Paediatric Consultants and Senior Team, supporting colleagues working within the Outpatient clinic. 

Main duties of the job

  • High standards of Professional Practice to ensure quality and safety of patient care, experience  and the patient journey
  • Developing own clinical practice, knowledge, skills and experience, to ensure patients receive evidence-based care
  • Acting as a good role model
  • Supporting the team in ensuring that clinical services are delivered to a high quality of care and that all compliance requirements such as CQC and contractual requirements are achieved.
  • To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients using investigative and analytical skills where factors may be conflicting, requiring analysis and interpretation skills and the comparison of a range of options to achieve effective treatment or discharge planning check.
  •  To develop clinically reasoned treatment, action and discharge plans and to undertake and evaluate treatment
  • To reflect on patient feedback and be involved in improving the current service
  • To implement and maintain systems, under the guidance of the senior team
  • To ensure that effective two-way communication takes place at all levels within the service, developing and maintaining systems and approaches to staff communication and involvement that take account of the working patterns and requirements of staff

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Smooth running of all paediatric clinics, catering to paediatric consultants and patients/relatives, ensuring needs are met as they arise
  • Weighing and heighting of all paeds that come into the clinic.
  • Clear documentation of all care given
  • Giving advice on medication and structured care plan for paediatrics
  • Running of paediatric venepuncture and cannulation clinics
  • Assisting with procedures such as minor operations, immunisations and escorting paeds to x rays and scans
  • Audits
  • Teaching and training of staff and student nurses
  • Maintaining relationships between candover clinic team and G floor staff for continuity of care.
  • Paediatric spirometry clinics
  • Ensuring all data needed for CQC relating to Paeds are maintained and up to date.
  • Attending MDT meetings and keeping all SOPs up to date and relevant.
